What is a public record?
All government documents are subject for inspection and copying, but there are those cases that these documents may be exempt from inspection and/or copying. Please refer to the Florida State Statutes, Chapter 119.
When will my report be ready?
Reports are usually available for release 5-7 business days, after reporting the incident. Occasionally the report may take longer depending upon the report review process.
Why can't I get a copy of a juvenile record?
Juvenile records are released in accordance to Florida State Statutes, Chapter 119.
Why is some of the information "blacked out" on my report?
Due to Florida State Statutes, Chapter 119, some information is not public record, as with the victim information in cases such as child abuse, elderly abuse, sexual battery, etc.
How do I find out where my vehicle has been towed?
You should contact the Ocoee Police Department Communications Division at 407-905-3160.
How do I find out about getting my property returned?
You should contact the Ocoee Police Department Property / Evidence Section at 407-905-3100, ext. 3052.
How can I locate information about crimes in a certain area?
Each month a calls for service report is completed. For prior months, you must appear in person at the Ocoee Police Department located at 646 Ocoee Commerce Parkway to request a copy or to view documents. If you require a list of calls for service for any area, please contact us by calling 407-905-3160.
Why do I need to show identification to obtain a copy of an accident report?
Motor vehicle crash information is confidential and exempt from Chapter 119.07(1) Florida Statutes and s.24(a), Art. I of the State Constitution for a period of 60 days after the date of the crash report is filed. However, such reports may be made immediately available to the parties involved in the crash, their legal representatives, and their licensed insurance agents once the crash release form is signed and notarized. For a complete list, refer to Chapter 316.066(3c), Florida State Statutes to ensure that we are in accordance to Chapter 119, Florida State Statutes. After the 60 days, identification will not be required.
How long do I have to wait to receive my request?
There are several factors that determine this. Reports go through an approval process that takes about 5 days. We also answer requests in the order they are received. We Receive several requests daily. Depending on when the request is made in the approval process, how many requests there are ahead of yours and the volume of the request will determine how long it will take, however, we aim to complete the request in 10-15 business days.
Do you have access to other police department records?
We only have access to the Ocoee Police Department. Although Ocoee is in Orange County, If the Orange County Sherriff responds to your call, you will have to contact their Department for the records.
How much does it cost to obtain records?
The cost is determined by the volume of the request. If a fee is applied you will receive an invoice. a deposit will be required to begin the
project. The balance will need to be paid in full before the records are released.
